Registered Office

What is a Registered Office Address?

A company registered in the UK can be registered in any one of four domiciles, these are - England & Wales, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Any Company so registered is required to have a physical address (i.e. not a PO Box) located within the domicile of registration as its Registered Office address.

The Registered Office address is the official address of the company and is important as any document delivered to this address is legally considered to have been delivered to the company. It is, therefore, the address that will be used by Companies House, HMRC and other Government Departments as the principle route of communication with the Company, as well as being the address at which any legal papers will be served.

Your Registered Office address is registered with, and made publicly available by, Companies House. If you do not have a suitable address for this purpose, and if your Company is registered in England & Wales, then Blue Sky Formations can provide you with a London address to use as your Registered Office Address, forwarding all official  mail to an address you specify.

NB Your Registered Office Address must appear on all company stationary, invoices, emails, websites etc. in legible characters.
 

Benefits of using our Registered Office Service 

Taking advantage of the Registered Office Address service provided by Blue Sky Formations will give you a number of benefits:

Using our Registered Office service will keep your personal address off the public records of the company  giving you extra privacy, but still enable you to receive important documents.

If you are resident overseas and do not have a UK address then using this service will allow you to incorporate a Company in England & Wales where you would otherwise be unable to do so.

Unless our Mail Forwarding Service has also been selected, we will only forward to you official mail.* This means that any junk mail received will not be considered official and will be intercepted before it reaches you.**

As our address is based in London this may add a perceived status to your company to your customers / suppliers. It may also give the impression that your Company has multiple office locations if you use a separate trading address.

 

* Official mail includes mail from Companies House, HMRC, Government Departments and the Courts.

Mail Forwarding Service

In addition to our Registered Office service, we can also provide a more comprehensive Mail Forwarding Service, where you may use our address as the main correspondence address of your company and we will forward all mail received to your specified address.*

This service is useful if you wish to be seen as trading in London, when you are based elsewhere in the country (or the world), or if you simply do not want to be seen as trading from home.

Our office is a physical address and is serviced by dedicated mail forwarding staff, who will receive and process mail on your behalf, including recorded and couriered items, which will then be forwarded on to the address that you specify.

The Mail Forwarding service carries an annual fee with a pre-pay credit system to cover the cost of postage and our handling fee of 10p per item. The annual fee includes the first £20 of credit and we will notify you by email, with a link to top-up, when this credit runs low.**

 * Parcels and other larger items will not be automatically forwarded and we will contact you to arrange delivery or collection of these. Additional costs may be incurred.

** Failure to top-up will mean that your mail will not be forwarded and, after a holding period, will be returned to sender.

Service address  

Directors are now obliged to file two addresses with the Registrar of Companies, their Residential Address and a Service Address. The Service Address is made public while the Residential Address remains confidential. Whenever Companies House needs to contact the Director of a company, they will write to the Service Address held on the public register.

There is nothing to stop you from using your Residential Address as your Service Address, but if you would prefer to keep this information confidential and off the public register, then using our London address will provide this confidentiality. We will then forward all Directors statutory mail with no additional postage charges.
